PCGOP September Meeting Recap

PCGOP September Meeting Recap

The Platte County Republican Party met on September 5th to discuss issues of local importance. Here is a brief recap of this month's meeting:

At the local level, the City of Columbus is currently working through its budget process. It appears that the city will be reducing the property tax levy, although valuations were up over 10% from last year. The City went into closed session to discuss the job performance of the City Administrator, although this is standard parliamentary procedure for employee reviews. We recapped the recent special session on property taxes at the Unicameral as well.

Later this month and into October, the PCGOP will be hitting the road to connect with voters throughout Platte County. These GOP meetup events will be informal and will provide an opportunity to network with Republicans throughout the county ahead of the upcoming election. Dates, times, and locations will be announced in the coming days.

Lastly, a recap of the recent State Central Committee meeting in Hastings was discussed, including the results of elections for party leadership in the first congressional district, constitutional amendments, and resolutions. The NEGOP legislative plan was approved by the body to provide direction for the party for the next legislative session in Lincoln.

We were also made aware of a potential "day of action" here in Columbus for one or more candidates for office. Also, the PCGOP is looking to partner with our friends in Colfax County on a possible event with the Governor later in September. We will provide additional details on our site as soon as they are confirmed and become available.
